KARACHI – The son of an influential leader of Pakistan Peoples Party whoalong with other accomplices allegedly gang-raped a Hindu youngster inThatta area of Sindh, was arrested on Thursday.
Reportedly, the incident- which was recorded and put online – took place inthe Darro town of Sajawal district where the main accused Arbab IbrahimMemon and half a dozen other men tortured the victim besides raping him.
Arbab Ibrahim Memon is the son of PPP leader Rameezul Haq who had contestedelections on the party’s ticket in the previous general elections.
On the other hand, the victim is a 19-year-old boy* whose family hasmigrated to another town and is not available for comment.
Revealing the action taken in this regard, Sindh Home Minister Sohail AnwarSial confirmed that two employees of the health department, Saleh Memon andSaleem Ghugho had been suspended, Express Tribune reported.
“I have ordered police to take action and arrest the culprits involved,”observed Sial and added that police was in pursuit of main accused.
“We will take action irrespective of the influence of these rapists.” heasserted.
Moreover, Thatta SSP Fida Hussain Janwari claimed that they were ready totake action against the accused but the victim’s family was not cooperating.
