DSJ suspended over initiating malicious campaign against CJP

*ISLAMABAD: *A Sessions judge who on Tuesday filed a reference againstChief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar in the Supreme JudicialCouncil accusing him of ‘misconduct’, has been suspended over hismalicious campaign.

Kohat District and Sessions Judge Ahmad Sultan Tareen filed the referencevia courier on Tuesday saying that ‘the CJP’s recent actions are aviolation of the Article 209 Code of Conduct. It was further requested thataction be taken against Justice Nisar by the Supreme Judicial Council.

The complainant also mentioned that non-disclosure of the agenda behind therecent meeting between the CJP and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is aviolation of the Article 19-A of the Constitution, which guarantees theright of citizens to have access to information in matters of publicimportance.

While referring to Justice Nisar’s “remarks during speeches and interviewsto the media”, it was mentioned that “are such remarks giving a good nameto the judiciary?”. It was further said that such remarks are a‘disrespect’ to the position of chief justice.

It was further questioned that as Chairman of the National Judicial PolicyMaking Committee, “has the chief justice ensured provision of justice andhas he fulfilled his responsibilities to improve the system?”

“Does the CJP have any ethical justification of forcing bureaucrats andpoliticians to do their job?” it was inquired.
