Pakistan Navy warship made port call at Turkey in ever growing defence ties between the two countries

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Navy Ship Yarmook is currently making a port call inTurkey on its transit to Pakistan symbolizing the historic and brotherlyties as well as ever growing defence cooperation between the two countries.

On its arrival, PNS YARMOOK was extended a very warm welcome by the TurkishNavy and was escorted from Bosphorus to Gölcük Naval Base by Turkish coastguard.

During the ongoing visit, the commanding officer of PNS Yarmook called onTurkish Navy Fleet Commander, Surface Fleet Commander, Gölcük Naval BaseCommander and the Mayor of Gölcük, said a press release received hereThursday.

During these interactions, he conveyed the warm sentiments of Chief of theNaval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, for the people of Turkey ingeneral and the Turkish Navy in particular.

He also conveyed his gratitude for the wholehearted support by the Turkishauthorities for PNS Yarmook’s port call. Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fightagainst terrorism and Pakistan Navy’s role inensuring global maritime safety and security were also highlighted duringthese meetings.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction at the ongoing bilateralcooperation and reiterated their commitment towards continue strengtheningtheir relations in all areas of common interest.

A reception dinner was hosted onboard PNS Yarmook on Wednesday in whichthe Fleet Commander Turkish Navy, Vice Admiral ErcumentTatlioglu, Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, and seniorofficers of Turkish Navy as well as representatives of Turkish defenceindustries participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Syrus SajjadQazi said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed unparalleled fraternal relationsand had always stood by one another in the face of all challenges.

He welcomed the ever expanding defense cooperation between the two sidesand assured Pakistan’s continued support for Turkey’s legitimate securityand humanitarian concerns in the region.

Commanding Officer PNS Yarmook, in his remarks, highlighted thedeteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in IndianOccupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K).

He also condemned India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019in IOJK in contravention of the international law and called for theresolution of dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Councilresolutions.
