LAHORE – The Punjab government has close down all the charities run bybanned organisations in schools and hospitals etc and apprehended 65individuals in the province, a handout issued here on Tuesday said.
Any charity work being carried out by a proscribed organization will comeunder control of provincial government.
The decision has been taken in line with the charter of National ActionPlan (NAP) under which no proscribed organisations or armed militia will beallowed to function in Pakistan.
This action is also in line with the federal government’s multi prongedapproach to tackle proscribed organisations, it added.
Explaining the arrests, it said the action is not directed towards anyparticular sect, group or organization, but has been launched across theboard which is aimed at hastening completion of NAP.
It further said people, not involved with the proscribed organisations, didnot need to fear the action, adding that it is a decision by the state ofPakistan and no one will be handed over to any one.
It said a comprehensive strategy has been evolved towards bringing suchindividuals into the mainstream and making them useful citizens throughteaching skill sets, provision of jobs.
