State Terrorism: Indian troops martyred 65 people and critically injured over 922 people in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR– In worst acts of State Terrorism, Indian troops martyred 65people and critically injured over 922 people in Occupied Kashmir sinceAugust 5 lockdown.

As the curfew and communications blockage in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK)continues to remain cut off from the rest of the world on the 185thconsecutive day on Wednesday, Indian troops in their fresh act of stateterrorism martyred two Kashmiri youth in Srinagar.

The troops martyred the youth during a cordon operation inLawaypora-Shalteng area of Srinagar. Earlier, one Indian soldier was killedand another was injured in an attack in the same area.

Soon after the incident, Indian police and troops cordoned off the area andlaunched searches. Further details are awaited.

Meanwhile, Indian troops have martyred 65 Kashmiris including 2 women and 4young boys during the ongoing 6-month long siege and lockdown in theterritory.

According to a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir MediaService, on the completion of six months of unprecedented militarylockdown, today; of those martyred seven youth were killed in fakeencounters or custody. India had revoked the special status of occupiedKashmir on 5th August, last year, and put the territory under militarysiege.

The report said that during the period, at least 922 people were criticallyinjured due to firing of bullets, pellets and teargas shells on peacefuldemonstrators by Indian military, paramilitary and police personnel in theoccupied territory. It said that thousands of Hurriyat leaders, activists,politicians and civil society members including APHC Chairman Syed AliGilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Ghulam Muhammad Hubbi, Bar President MianAbdul Qayoom, human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, and Bar GeneralSecretary, Muhammad Ashraf Butt, continued to remain under house arrest orin jails.

The report said that the troops molested 42 women after barging into theresidential houses in the period. The occupation authorities also did notallow people to offer Juma prayers for 19 consecutive weeks at historicalJamia Masjid in Srinagar after August 5, it said.

The report said that although uneasy calm and uncertainty prevailed in theKashmir Valley, yet life was badly affected there as restrictions underSection 144 remained enforced. The increasing cordon and search operationshave also added to the miseries of the already suffering people of theoccupied territory, it added.
