Shazia Marri, a prominent figure in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), took a decisive step on Monday by issuing legal notices to individuals responsible for spreading unfounded and false information. This move came in response to a flurry of social media posts that had circulated, alleging the discovery of a substantial amount of cash and gold at the residence of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) chairperson, a position she holds.
These posts suggested that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had unearthed a staggering Rs97 billion from Marri's home. However, it was subsequently revealed that this news was entirely fabricated, as exposed by the account known as "Expose Propaganda."
In a statement shared on her social media handle, Shazia Marri underscored her commitment to her political journey, spanning over 21 years. She emphasized that her dedication and sincerity in serving the people, both as an elected member and a minister, were unwavering.
Her conscience remained satisfied with the integrity she had maintained throughout her political career. She conveyed her determination to take legal action against those responsible for peddling false and baseless news about her.
The day prior to issuing the legal notices, Shazia Marri expressed her gratitude to those who had worked diligently to debunk the fake news that had tarnished her reputation. She noted the overwhelming support she had received from individuals who saw through the malicious propaganda, which only served to expose the questionable motives of its purveyors. In her statement, Marri made it clear that she would not hesitate to pursue legal action against those who had played a role in spreading this damaging misinformation.
