The decision has been made to move the matches of the Asia Cup Super Four stage from Colombo to Hambantota. It is reported that due to heavy rainfall in Colombo, the decision has been taken to relocate the 8 matches of the event, including the final, to Hambantota. Indian media suggests that the cricket team will go to Hambantota instead of Colombo.
It should be noted that Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board's Management Committee, had contacted Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), regarding the Asia Cup. Zaka Ashraf had told Jay Shah during their conversation that there is a possibility of further rainfall in Sri Lanka, and there is no chance of rain in Pakistan, so they should consider moving the matches to Pakistan.
He had stated that the Asia Cup is a major tournament and should not be affected by rain. Jay Shah had responded to Zaka Ashraf, saying that we will consider the current situation.
