On Tuesday, the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III, had a phone conversation with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, to engage in discussions regarding regional peace. This communication was confirmed through a press release by Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon Press Secretary, where Secretary Austin and General Asim Munir addressed various topics of shared interest, including recent regional developments.
This interaction occurred shortly after Islamabad established a deadline for the deportation of illegal foreign nationals within the country due to escalating concerns related to terrorism and smuggling.
In a meeting of the Apex Committee, COAS General Asim Munir, interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, and others reached the decision to expel these illegal immigrants.
During a subsequent press conference in Islamabad, the caretaker interior minister, Sarfraz Bugti, emphasized that the immigrants have until November 1 to leave the country, highlighting Pakistan's unique policy of allowing entry to individuals without passports.
