Senior journalist Ijaz Syed has said that many politicians and bureaucrats are discussing the possibility of delaying elections based on the economy and accountability.

Speaking on Geo News' program "Report Card," Ijaz Syed, in a special interview, responded to a question regarding Maulana Fazlur Rehman's statement about the non-conduct of elections in January. He mentioned that Maulana Fazlur Rehman carefully navigates politics, aligning with the establishment's right hand but leaning towards the left. He prefers to stay in the political ring and always adopts positions favored by the powerful circles in the country.

He further stated that there are strong indications within the federal government that elections can be postponed, built upon economic and accountability grounds. If the government manages to stabilize the dollar up to 250 rupees during this time and controls prices, they might adopt the position that this system is capable of providing relief to the public. Therefore, elections should be postponed. If the decision is made to delay or postpone elections, all political parties will provide evidence for this right, as they are currently demanding elections.

Ijaz Syed also mentioned that he had important meetings with some individuals from the Election Commission, and while the Chief Election Commissioner is an independent-minded person, there was a crucial meeting with another influential personality whose outcomes will become apparent in due time.
