ISLAMABAD: (APP) Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf on Friday said uniformed prayer timings have been implemented in more than 90 per cent Auqaf controlled mosques of Islamabad and this would be enforced in other parts of the country.
A consensus has been developed with concerned provincial authorities to implement uniformed prayer timings throughout the country, he said this while addressing at Masjid Sydna Hassan G-9/4 before Friday prayers.
Umrah Policy: Religious ministry proposal
He appreciated role of Ulema for developing a consensus to follow uniformed prayer timings.
Pakistan came into existence in name of Islam but unfortunately, the consensus could not be developed for implementation of uniformed prayer timings, adding that now it was the right time to make it possible.
Religious Authorities approval must before issuance of Umrah
Sardar Yousaf said Ministry of Religious Affairs has established a Special Cell for the cause.
A number of Muslim countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Bosnia etc had adopted practice of uniformed prayer timings many years ago, but "We are moving toward this in recent years."
He said uniformed prayers timing calendar has been sent to all mosques of the Capital, hoping it would be followed by remaining mosques.
