Passengers at New Islamabad Airport welcomed by broken conveyer belt

ISLAMABAD - Passengers at the new Islamabad International Airport indeed got a surprise on the second day after the inauguration when they were welcomed with a broken conveyor belt, leading them to wait for hours for their luggage.

The new airport, which officially opened on Thursday, saw many problems faced by the passengers, local media reported. When the passengers had to wait for a long time for their luggage, they took it upon themselves to retrieve their bags and started climbing onto the conveyor belt.

A passenger uploaded a video on Facebook with the caption ‘New Islamabad Airport but same people. How change comes’. The video shows passengers hunched on the belt retrieving their belongings . Some passengers are even seen going inside the concealed area from where the luggage comes from.

British Member of Parliament Naz Shah shared her own experience at the new airport and wrote on Twitter saying that she got her luggage after three hours of waiting. She further said that according to the staff, the airport was opened prematurely and was not equipped.
