ISLAMABAD: German Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Sabine Sparwasser on Thursday called on National Security Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Nasser Khan Janjua and discussed matters pertaining to peace process in Afghanistan and counter-terrorism cooperation.
Talking to Ambassador Sabine, the Adviser stressed the need for seeking an early closure to decades old conflict in Afghanistan which has wreaked a heavy toll on both Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He emphasized significance of political reconciliation for a lasting and durable solution and conveyed Pakistan's readiness to support it in all possible manners.
He apprised the Ambassador Sabine about counter terrorism efforts of the Pakistan in the context of National Action Plan (NAP).
Ambassador Sabine noted that Pakistan could play a key role in reconciliation process in Afghanistan which necessitates improvement in mutual trust and bilateral relations between the two countries.
German ambassador to Pakistan and defence attache were also present in the meeting. (APP)
