ISLAMABAD: (APP) Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry Saturday noted with satisfaction that Pakistan due to its ideal geographical location and immense potential in realms of vast connectivity and trade opportunities was fast forging stronger ties with different world capitals.
Under such tremendous revolutions taking place across the globe in which new alignments were being made, Islamabad could not be isolated on diplomatic fronts, he said in reply to a query regarding Indian propaganda against Pakistan.
The Foreign secretary, in a PTV programme, referred to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and access given to the western markets, and said those were the development which had really worried India.
To another question, he said Islamabad had made no distinction among the terrorists and took strong action against extremists and terrorists of all hues without discrimination.
He said terrorism was a global issue and rejected Indian stance for linking the issue as a pre-condition for holding talks with Pakistan.
About Heart of Asia Conference, Aizaz said Pakistan and Afghanistan had been attached to each other due to their centuries old relations based upon cultural, religious and traditional affinities and stability in the neighbouring country was of greater significance for Pakistan.
He said Islamabad had already conveyed that negotiations were the only way forward for durable peace in Afghanistan.
Pakistan had been supporting Kabul in every field and offered cooperation, he said, adding the Prime Minister had already pledged $500 million development package for Afghanistan during his Brussels announcement.
The secretary also reiterated Pakistan's strong support to the elected Afghan government.
He said Russia was a significant country and permanent member of the UN Security Council that had also expressed its keen interest in the new alignments emerging in these regions.
Aizaz expressed his confidence that Russia's increasing interest in the regional developments would bolster the efforts for peace and prosperity of the region.
