Federal government sacks Secretary Interior Arif Ahmed Khan

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Interior Secretary Arif Ahmed Khan has been removed from his post, informed interior department spokesperson on Tuesday.

Arif Ahmed Khan’s services have been handed over to the Establishment Division, according to the spokesperson.  The official was appointed as the Secretary Interior on February 12, last year.

Moreover, Additional Secretary Interior Tariq Mehmood Khan has been given the charge of Secretary Interior.

The decision has been approved by the Prime Minister, the spokesperson added.

This the second time within a week that a high level official has been removed from his post. Previously, Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin was also transferred from his post along with five senior officers of Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS) officers.

However, Yasin had confronted and challenged the Ministry of Interior to maintain his respect and dignity. He had written a letter to defend his position after news surface that he was replaced as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was not satisfied with his performance.
