Border Forces Eliminate Five Afghan Terrorists crossing into Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army troops on Wednesday night foiled an infiltrationattempt by a group of Fitna Al Khawarij terrorists along thePakistan-Afghanistan border in the Zhob sector of Balochistan, eliminatingall five militants in the exchange of fire.

According to military sources, vigilant troops deployed at the borderobserved suspicious movement during the night between 3 and 4 December. Asmall formation of terrorists belonging to the banned Fitna Al Khawarijoutfit was attempting to cross into Pakistani territory under the cover ofdarkness.

The border security forces immediately responded to the threat and engagedthe infiltrating group. In the ensuing intense firefight, all fiveterrorists were neutralised before they could breach the border or causeany harm to Pakistani personnel or installations.

No casualties were reported on the Pakistan Army side, while the bodies ofthe eliminated terrorists remained in the area across the border. Thesuccessful operation underscores the high state of alertness maintained byPakistani forces along the lengthy and porous western border withAfghanistan.

The Zhob sector has witnessed occasional infiltration attempts in recentmonths as terrorist organisations continue efforts to destabiliseBalochistan through cross-border movement. Security officials haverepeatedly urged Afghan authorities to take effective measures againstterrorist sanctuaries operating from their soil.

The Inter-Services Public Relations has not yet issued an officialstatement, but sources confirmed that the operation was conducted withcomplete professionalism and prevented what could have been a majorsecurity breach.

Such incidents highlight the continuing challenge Pakistan faces fromterrorist groups using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside thecountry. The military leadership has consistently maintained that durablepeace in the region can only be achieved through joint border managementand sincere cooperation from the interim Afghan government.

The latest action comes amid heightened security measures acrossBalochistan following recent terrorist activities in different parts of theprovince. Pakistani forces remain fully prepared to defend the motherlandagainst all internal and external threats.
