ISLAMABAD – New developments reported over former President Asif AliZardari bail petition in Islamabad High Court.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, while hearing former presidentAsif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur’s bail petitions in the moneylaundering through fake bank accounts and Park Lane corruption references,ordered medical superintendent of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences(PIMS) to constitute a new special medical board comprising of the formerpresident s personal physician.
The court adjourned the hearing till December 11.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Athar Minallah presided over thehearing of the bail applications filed by Farooq H Naek on behalf of bothPakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the federal government havebeen made respondents in the petitions.
The applications maintained that the NAB has failed to provide any evidenceagainst the PPP leaders despite of their arrest from more than five months.The bail pleas further stated that the petitioners couldn’t be left at themercy of jail authorities.
Yesterday, Mr Zardari filed two bail applications on medical grounds in tworeferences whereas Talpur sought bail from the same court in one corruptionreference, while pleading with the court that she was a mother of adifferently-abled child, and therefore she needed to take care of thatchild.
Mr Zardari has maintained that he is suffering from a heart ailment and hashad three stents placed in his body. He said that he also suffers fromdiabetes which means that he has to constantly monitor his blood sugarlevels.
His bail plea pleaded with the court to grant bail to the petitioner as herequired medical care for 24 hours a day.
