Former PM Imran Khan gets some relief from the special court

A special court established under the Official Secrets Act granted PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief permission to communicate with his sons viaWhatsApp.

The plea for this permission was heard by Special Court Judge AbualHasnaat Zulqarnain, who considered the request made by PTI chairman andformer Prime Minister Imran Khan. Advocate Sheraz Ahmad Ranjha hadsubmitted the application on behalf of Imran Khan.

Following the hearing, the special court approved the PTI chairman’srequest to converse with his sons through WhatsApp. Imran Khan, the formerprime minister, has been in judicial custody in connection with a ciphercase and has been detained in Attock prison since his arrest on August 5.

The cipher case originated when the first information report (FIR) wasfiled on August 15 under the Official Secrets Act, based on a complaint bythe Home Secretary.

The FIR named former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign MinisterShah Mahmood Qureshi, and it also mentioned former Principal Secretary AzamKhan and former Planning Minister Asad Umar.
