The revelation has been made that favored constituencies in the PDMgovernment have been allocated billions in public funds. It has beendisclosed that the PDM government has allocated billions in earmarked fundsfor the welfare of the poor, while the federal government has distributeddiscretionary funds among its allies.
Private TV channel Hum News reported that in the final days of the PDMgovernment, approval was granted for the utilization of 80 billion rupeesin development funds, which Supreme Court found to be unfairly distributed,exposing the misuse of billions of rupees in development funds forsustainable development objectives.
Under the Sustainable Development Program, 45 billion rupees worth ofprojects have been approved for Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala,Narowal, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, and Sargodha. Work has commenced on theseprojects.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 billion rupees worth of projects have beenallocated for Bajaur, Shangla, Waziristan, and Mansehra. Sindh’s fundedareas include Karachi, Badin, Sanghar, Larkana, Noshahro Feroze, andBenazirabad, where 11 billion rupees worth of projects have been initiated.Balochistan’s funded areas, including Khuzdar, Qila Saifullah, Loralai,Chagai, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, and Quetta, have received 5 billion rupeesfor various schemes.
Lahore has been allocated 10 billion rupees in funds, while Rawalpindi hasreceived 3 billion rupees. Additionally, Narowal has been granted 2 billionrupees, and Karachi has received 2 billion rupees for a scheme.
Furthermore, Chagai has received 500 million rupees, Jhal Magsi hasreceived 350 million rupees, Mansehra has received 100 million rupees for ascheme, Sialkot has received 100 million rupees, and Larkana andBenazirabad have received 1.25 billion rupees for schemes. Badin hasreceived 50 crore rupees for a scheme, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s fundedareas, including Bajaur, Shangla, Waziristan, and Mansehra, have received500 million rupees.
However, the regions deprived of funds from the Public Development Programinclude Awaran, Duki, Barkhan, Hernai, Pishin, Musa Khel, Kech, Qilaat,Chaman, Kohlu, St. Muhammad, Washuk, Noshki, and Lasbela in Balochistan.
Similarly, areas deprived of funds from the Sindh Sustainable DevelopmentProgram include Umerkot, Matiari, Shikarpur, Ghotki, and Kashmore.Revelations from government documents show that at least 5,000 governmentdevelopment schemes were approved, but despite the release of funds, workhas not been completed on seventy percent of government schemes.
Thirty percent of government schemes, despite the allocation of funds,could not progress. Fourteen districts in Balochistan, seven in KP, six inPunjab, and five in Sindh have been deprived of funds. Similarly, in KP’sfunded areas, including Bajaur, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Haripur, Khair,Kolai, and Orakzai, development programs have been denied.
In Punjab’s funded areas, including Attock, Mianwali, Kot Addu, Layyah,Ahmedpur East, and Khushab, work could not commence on the sustainabledevelopment projects, and no funds were allocated.
