Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has provided clarification that theflight originally halted in Canada has been given permission to resume itsjourney following the airline’s settlement of its outstanding payments forfuel and ground handling.
Earlier in the day, reports had surfaced that flight PK-790, scheduled totravel from Toronto to Canada, experienced a four-hour delay due to demandsfrom a ground handling and fuel company for unpaid dues totaling $200,000.
This delay was reported to have also affected the boarding process forpassengers. According to a statement from PIA, the airline encountereddifficulties in making the payment because the issue arose during nighttimehours in Pakistan.
Nevertheless, the airline successfully resolved the payment, allowing theflight to continue. A statement from Swissport, the company responsible forhandling operations at Toronto airport, had indicated that PIA owed thecompany more than $280,000 and had repeatedly requested payment from theairline.
Additionally, the company had announced its intention to place PIA on aprepayment arrangement and cease services starting from October 3.
