Nuclear submarine sinks killing 55 Navy personnel

British news agency “The Times” has referred to a report from the Britishintelligence agency, stating that a Chinese nuclear submarine got stuck inits own fishing net and sank, resulting in the loss of 55 Chinese navypersonnel.

According to the report, this incident occurred in the “Yellow Sea.”However, Taiwan has raised doubts about the submarine incident.

The British intelligence report identifies the Chinese navy’s submarinewith the code “093-417″ and mentions that on August 21, the submarinesuffered catastrophic damage, leading to a decrease in oxygen levels forthe crew.

The report further states that among the casualties, there are captains and21 officers.

The Times’ report suggests that near the Shandong province in northernShanghai, the Chinese navy submarine got trapped in a fishing net deployedby their own forces, leading to oxygen depletion within the submarine.

According to the British intelligence officials mentioned in the report,”We believe the deaths on the submarine occurred due to a system failure,resulting in hypoxia (oxygen deficiency).”
