More steps on cards against India over Occupied Kashmir lockdown

ISLAMABAD Foreign Office says Kashmir dispute stands internationalized andmore steps are on the cards to effectively highlight the plight ofoppressed Kashmir people.

At his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign OfficeSpokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal pointed out that the festering dispute hasbeen taken up by Pakistan at every forum including most recently at the UNGeneral Assembly and the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He said the internationalization of Kashmir dispute has moved India to thecorner and it is not finding any way to come out of this situation.

The Spokesperson strongly condemned the unprecedented communicationblockade and clampdown in the occupied valley. He said Pakistan impressesupon the world community to take notice of the blatant human rightsviolations there.

Dr Muhammad Faisal said Indian occupying forces have martyred thirteenKashmiris over the last one week. He said there are reports of more deathsbut due to complete communication blackout, the exact details are notcoming out of the held valley.

The spokesperson said occupied Kashmir remains under siege and cut off fromthe rest of the world since the lockdown was imposed on 4th August. He saidthis unprecedented military lockdown and inhumane actions by the Indianauthorities risk lives of the people.

Responding to a question, the spokesperson said that Saudi position onKashmir dispute is very clear and public. He said the communique of OICcontact group on Kashmir reflects the position of Saudi Arabia and theMuslim Ummah on the dispute.

About the appointment of Munir Akram as Pakistan’s Permanent Representativeto the United Nations, the Spokesperson said Munir Akram has been adistinguished member of the foreign service. His accomplishments andachievements are well known. He said Munir Akram will soon assume hisresponsibilities in New York.
