Federal government sacks heads of top 4 government banks

ISLAMABAD – The federal government on Thursday has sacked the heads of fourtop government banks who were appointed by former finance minister IshaqDar.

Federal government removed four government-owned bank heads because theywere appointed ‘illegally’, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said thisduring a conference in Islamabad.

“These include National Bank Chairperson Saeed Ahmed, First Women BankPresident Tahira Raza, Zarai Taraqiati Bank President, and CEO Syed TalatMehmood and SME Bank President Ehsanul Haq Khan,” Fawad added.

The officials were removed after the approval of the cabinet. “All theappointments were made by former finance minister Ishaq Dar on thepolitical basis, the minister clarified.

Moreover, Jameel Ahmed and Shams-ul-Hasan have been removed as deputygovernors State Bank, the information minister announced. “Ms Vaddiya hasalso been removed from Competition Commission Of Pakistan,” Chaudhry addedthat two other members of the Competition Commission Of Pakistan had beenremoved.
