Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar burst into laughter in thecourtroom at Lahore High Court over the statement regarding PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf’s President Pervez Elahi.
Despite the court’s orders, regarding the arrest of former Punjab ChiefMinister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, related to the hearing, the court said toconduct an inquiry, and they are issuing notices to IG Punjab.
IG Punjab responded, “Do not issue notices, just let it pass for now,Lahore High Court said, first issue the notices, then there will be actionand punishment.” Advocate General Punjab suggested that an opportunity begiven to inquire and report to the court.
The court inquired, “Don’t you know where Pervez Elahi is?” To whichAdvocate General Punjab explained that Pervez Elahi is not under thejurisdiction of any authority or department in Punjab.
Lahore High Court once again inquired, “Police also doesn’t know wherePervez Elahi is?” In response, IG Punjab Usman Anwar stated, “Even we don’tknow where he is,” leading to laughter in the court.
