The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has said two suspects who had beentaken into custody in connection with the bomb blast at Anarkali Lahorehave been killed in an exchange of fire with their accomplices.
The suspects were being taken to Khokhar Pind for the recovery of weaponsand explosives.
As soon as they reached close to their hideout, their four accompliceslink opened fire at the CTD personnelwhich led to an encounter. Consequently, Abdur Razzaq and Sanaullah werekilled, the sources elaborated.
They further said that the assailants managed to flee after the incidentwhile the CTD personnel had launched manhunt after taking their rifles andbullets into their possession.
In January last, at least three people had been killed and 20 othersinjured in a powerful bomb blast link atthe Paan Mandi in Lahore’s famous Anarkalilink market.
Lahore police spokesperson Rana Arif confirmed the death of three personsin the blast that shattered windows of nearby shops and buildings, Dawnnewspaper reported.
According to police, the blast took place near the Paan Mandi, where Indiancommodities are sold.
