LONDON – The Muslims of the United Kingdom (UK) on Tuesday celebrated EidUl Fitr the the culmination of the Holy month o Ramazan with religiousfervour and enthusiasm.
The day dawn with Fajr prayers at different Mosques in the UK forsolidarity andunity among Muslim Ummah, world peace and resolution of the conflicts beingfaced by the Muslims, especially in Palestine, Yamen and Kashmir and peacein Afghanistan.
Big congregations were held at Mosques and other open places in London,Birmingham, Bradford, Glasgow and Manchester where the Ulema and prayerleaders highlighted the significance and the philosophy of Fasting in theHoly month by the faithful to invoke the blessings of Allah in this worldand hereafter.
British-Pakistani and Kashmiri Muslims on the occasion along with theirfellow UKMuslims offered their prayers , exchanged greetings and reiterated topromote the true message of the Fasting for interfaith harmony ,Islamicbrotherhood, global peace and generosity.
They on the occasion also prayed for the success of the democraticgovernment in Pakistan and the socio-economic prosperity of the country andwellbeing of its people, end of terrorism and corruption,besides prayingfor the success of Pakistani cricket team in the ICC World Cup 2019 hostedby the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile,Prime Minister Theresa May in her message on occasion of Eidal-Fitr said “I want to send my very best wishes to Muslims at home andaround the world celebrating the
festival of Eid al-Fitr”.She said that for more than threemillion British Muslims, the joyous occasion of Eid, spent with family andloved ones, marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
“Over the last month, many BritishMuslims have shared the holy practices of Ramadan with neighbours of allfaiths and none – from doing charity work in the local community topreparing meals for the elderly or coming together to break the fast at theend of the day”, she remarked.
The British Prime Minister said that during Ramadan, as at many other timesof the year, “I see the very best of the values which unite us all: oftolerance, of respect, and of selflessness”.
“Sadly, there are those who only seek to sow division and to spread fearand hatred in our communities. This year we have seen despicable acts ofterrorism targeted against Muslims both abroad and on UK soil, on innocentpeople attending their place of worship or going about their daily lives”,she observed.
Theresa May said that there can be no place in our societies for the vileideology that incites hatred and fear, and I stand with Muslims here in theUK and around the world against those who seek to destroy our values.
“So as we come together in celebration this Eid – to share meals and giftswith families, friends and colleagues – let us remain steadfast in thevalues we share”;she said .
