BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying hoped thatthere will be smooth election process in Pakistan.
Replying to a question at a regular news briefing here on Monday, she said“They have noticed that Pakistan will hold general elections at the end ofJuly and we sincerely hope that the Pakistani side will smoothly completethis major political process smoothly.
It is believed that regardless of the outcome of the election, thedevelopment of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnershipbetween China and Pakistan will not change.”
To a question about the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclearissue, the spokesperson said, they believe that compliance withinternational agreements is a basic common sense of international law.
Great powers should play an exemplary role for this purpose. China willwork with the EU to continue to firmly safeguard the seriousness andauthority of the comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear issue.
As for whether Chinese companies will withdraw from Iran, she said theChinese government has consistently opposed any country’s implementation ofunilateral sanctions against other countries in accordance with itsdomestic laws.
China and Iran have always maintained normal economic and tradeexchanges. China will cooperate with Iran without violating itsinternational obligations, she added.
To another question, Hua Chunying said China has taken note of PrimeMinister Modi’s positive attitude at the Shangri-La Dialogue Meeting onChina-India relations and appreciates it.
At the end of April this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modiheld a successful informal meeting in Wuhan. They exchanged views fully onthe international situation and Sino-Indian relations, increased mutualtrust and reached important consensus, including both sides agreeing to bemature and intelligent.
China is ready to work with India to take the important consensus of theleaders of the two countries as guidelines and safeguard the positivedevelopment momentum of the hard-won Sino-Indian relations, continuouslyincrease mutual political trust and maintain peace and the tranquillity inthe border areas,” she added.
