Punjab cabinet meeting: Important decisions taken

*LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet meeting here on Friday approved funds worthRs.5 billion to Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency for PrimeMinister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.*

The provincial cabinet meeting was held today with Punjab Chief MinisterSardar Usman Buzdar in the chair. According to a statement released fromhis office, the meeting decided to abolish the Punjab Irrigation andDrainage Authority (PIDA) Act, 1997 and to setup Khal Panchayat Authority.

CM Usman Buzdar said, “Every grain of wheat will be purchased during thewheat procurement campaign and farmers will be given every facility at theprocurement center.”

He said that the farmers’ rights would be fully protected and the completereward of their hard work would be given to them.

On the occasion, the chief minister directed the SMDR to give final shapeto the assistance package at the earliest. The meeting gave approval to thedemands of the Food Department in supplementary budget grants for thefinancial year 2018-19.

It was also decided to set up a waste management company in DG Khan and theestablishment of the same was approved by the cabinet.
