TEHRAN – The Syrian army discovered Israeli weapons and military equipmentin liberated ISIL-occupied regions in Southern Damascus, thwarting theterrorists’ attempts to send arms from Southern Syria to Homs.
Syria’s SANA news agency reported on Thursday that the army units havefound a large amount of weapons and ammunition in ISIL hideouts and tunnelsduring military operations in Hajar al-Aswad and al-Qadam regions inSouthern Damascus.
It added that a number of tunnels were 25m in length and some of thediscovered weapons were made in Israel. The army forces also found chemicalmaterials and masks in the tunnels.
Meantime, the army troops launched surprise attacks against one of theterrorists’ fronts in the South towards the regions occupied by otherterrorists in Homs province, seizing a truck carrying a large number ofweapons and military equipment.
Field sources said that the truck was moving from Dara’a and Quneitratowards Homs through Badiyeh region in Syria, adding that the army forcesseized a large number of different missiles, hundreds of boxes ofammunitions and Israeli weapons and medicines.
In a relevant development in February, the Syrian army continued itsadvances in Deir Ezzur, and seized a large amount of Israeli weapons andammunition from the terrorists in the province.
The Syrian army units conducted mop-up operations in al-Sayyal, Hasarat,al-Davir and Sabikhan on the outskirts of al-Mayadeen and Albu Kamal citiesin Eastern Deir Ezzur.
The Syrian army confiscated a large cache of arms and munitions from theterrorists’ hideouts.
A field source, meantime, announced that the Syrian troops found a Gradmissile launchpad, different types of bombs and missiles, anti-aircraftrockets and mortal shells made in Israel as well as modern communicationsand satellite equipment.
The military source also said that the army troops found suicide belts insmall sizes and also equipment for protection against chemical substances.
