ISLAMABAD – Passengers at the new Islamabad International Airport indeedgot a surprise on the second day after the inauguration when they werewelcomed with a broken conveyor belt, leading them to wait for hours fortheir luggage.

The new airport, which officially opened on Thursday, saw many problemsfaced by the passengers, local media reported. When the passengers had towait for a long time for their luggage, they took it upon themselves toretrieve their bags and started climbing onto the conveyor belt.

A passenger uploaded a video on Facebook with the caption ‘New IslamabadAirport but same people. How change comes’. The video shows passengershunched on the belt retrieving their belongings . Some passengers are evenseen going inside the concealed area from where the luggage comes from.

British Member of Parliament Naz Shah shared her own experience at the newairport and wrote on Twitter saying that she got her luggage after threehours of waiting. She further said that according to the staff, the airportwas opened prematurely and was not equipped.
