SRINAGAR – Authorities in Indian-held Kashmir have banned movement ofcivilian traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway for two days every week.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities have notified Sundayand Wednesday in a week for the movement of Indian forces’ personnel fromSrinagar to Jammu. During these days, no civilian traffic would be allowedon the highway from 4:00am to 5:00pm, he added.
This prohibition would be from Baramulla through Srinagar, Qazigund,Jawahar Tunnel, Banihal and Ramban till Udhampur.
“These restrictions would remain in force till May 31, 2019,” aspokesperson said.
Condemning the move, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman SyedAli Gilani said that caging the entire population in their houses tofacilitate the uninterrupted movement of Indian is shameful and humiliatingviolation of fundamental rights.
Gilani said after creating graveyards in length and breadth of theterritory, rulers in Delhi very brazenly try to strangulate the commonpeople, which can have catastrophic ramifications.
