DHAKA – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 on Sunday arrested thecommander of the military unit of Ansar al-Islam, Sadman Rahik alias Jabirfrom Tikatuli area of the capital. He was arrested from a flat in ParamountConcord.

He was produced before senior magistrate Ahmed Humayun where RAB appealedfor his 10-day remand, but the court granted seven-day remand forinterrogation.

Jabir is accused of sedition and militant activities in Narayanganj’sAraihajar police station area.

Senior Assistant Director of RAB-11, Alepp Uddin, said, “Sadman Rahik aliasJabir was inspired by militant ideology in 2010. Since 2014, he has beenserving as the commander of the military unit of the militant organizationAnsar al-Islam.”

He was also working to recruit members from different places.

Currently, two of his accomplices Junnun Sikdar and Abu Taher Sumon areparticipating in the war in Afghanistan.
