Communication Minister Murad Saeed has said the PTI government has plannedto build 6,147 kilometer long network of motorways and highways acrossPakistan.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Monday, he said 2,000 kilometers longroads were built in last five month, whereas Prime Minister Imran Khan’sgovernment has envisioned over 4,000 kilomters long projects more than theprevious government had built.
The Minister said 1,600 kilometers long projects have been executed in lasttwo years; besides initiating work on the Western Route of China PakistanEconomic Corridor. He said 60 percent work on Khuzdar-Basima road has beencompleted, while Hoshab-Awaran and Ratto Dero-Shikarpur Roads have beeninaugurated. He said Darra Adamkhel project is nearing completion.
Murad Saeed said ground breaking of Quetta Bypass and Dera Murad JamaliBypass will be performed this month. He said these projects are beingcompleted at a cost of billions of rupees. He said Naukand-Mashkhel,Ziarat-Harnai, and Harnai-Sanjavi, Shikarpur-Rajanpur, and other projectswill be started in next three months.
The Minister said ground breaking of 300 kilometers long Hyderabad-Sukkurmotorway will be performed in April this year. He also announced toconstruct Sialkot-Kharian-Rawalpindi motorway. He said 796 kilomters longChaman-Quetta-Karachi highway will be constructed in Public PrivatePartnership mode.
Murad Saeed said second phase of Sawat Motorway as well as Peshawar-DeraIsmail Khan, and Dir-Chitral motorways will be constructed. He said thegovernment is committed to bring backward areas at par with other parts ofthe country for the utmost facilitation of the people.
