Bahria Town to be renamed, orders SC

ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court Friday directed to unfreeze all accounts ofBahria Town and Malir Development Authority.Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while heading a three-judge bench remarkedthat the court had only ordered to monitor two bank accounts of the societynot to freeze all of them.Aitzaz Ahsan counsel for Bahria Town pleaded that private banks all overthe country had sealed his client’s accounts on the orders of the StateBank of Pakistan.He said due to this, Bahria Town employees’ salaries and other developmentwork had been affected. The counsel also informed the court that MalirDevelopment Authority’s accounts had also been frozen.The chief justice inquired Bahria Town’s counsel that despite court orderMalik Riaz did not change its society’s name.To this, Aitzaz Ahsan said his client had been given a six-month period forthe purpose, adding the renaming process is underway.
