Pakistan Cycling Federation squad announced for SA Track Cycling in New Delhi

PESHAWAR: (APP) Pakistan Cycling Federation Saturday announced six-member squad for the forthcoming South Asian Track Cycling Championship to played in New Delhi, India from September 13-18, 2016.

This was stated by Secretary General Pakistan Cycling Federation Syed Azhar Ali Shah while talking to APP soon after completing the trials held at Cycling Velodram, Lahore. He said the selection committee headed by its Chairman and former international cyclist Moazzam Khan Klair with other members comprising international cyclist Nusrat Khan, Mumtaz Riaz, Ishtiaq Mobeen and Amjad Ali.

He said the selected probable would participate in the Asian Cycling Track Cup and South Asian Cycling Championship and hopefully the boys, who are in good form, would give good result.

He said the selection committee has held the trials purely on merit and the best available lot have been selected. He also lauded Chairman Selection Committee Moazzam Khan for taking the pain and short-list the best out of the total lot, Pakistan Cycling Federation have. He said that national team is going to play against the India and Sri-Lanka teams at India, which could give them tough time.

Syed Azhar Ali Shah Secretary PCF said it is the first ever Championship with South Asian countries participating. He said Indian Cycling Federation is the host. He said the team would depart for India on September 12, 2016 via Wahga border.

India High Commission has not yet issued visa to contingent of Pakistan National Cycling Team, said Syed Azhar Ali Shah added and hopefully they would issue the visa in time. Shah further stated that Pakistan Sports Board could not fulfill the promise of releasing the grant for the national cyclists who won silver and bronze medals in South Asian Games held at Guwhati, India.
