Pakistan to ink Free Trade Agreement with yet another Islamic country

ISLAMABAD - Parliamentary Secretary Commerce Shandana Gulzar Khan Friday informed the National Assembly that Pakistan was making efforts to enhance market access for its products to Iran.

During question hour she said, “The government is making efforts to conclude a Free Trade Agreement to enhance market access of Pakistani Products to Iran.”

She said that various delegations of Iranian businessmen have visited Pakistan to participate in events including Build Pakistan Exhibition, Carpet Exhibition and International Cement Conference.

Responding to another question she said that Pakistan had witnessed an increase in total trade of halal food with OIC countries in 2017-18. The total trade of the halal food increased from USD 226.97 million in 2016-17 to USD 258.3 million in 2017-18, she added.

She said that the volume of bilateral trade in goods between Pakistan and Oman reached US $ 371 million in 2017-18. Pakistan’s exports to Oman stood at US $ 104.51 million while its imports from Oman are amounted to US $ 809.64 million in the same year, she said.
