TEHRAN – Taliban in a statement refuted claims made by the US regardingreceiving weapons from Iran for performing military operations inAfghanistan.

According to Afghan news agency, Taliban spokesman Qari Mohammad YousefAhmadi rejected US allegations, saying they have received no arms fromIran.

Taliban has its arms from its previous battles, he said, adding that theyhave various arsenals in different parts of Afghanistan.

He went on to say that the US is aimed at distracting the public opinionand the international community regarding its defeat in Afghanistan war.

Earlier, Brian Hook, Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State andSpecial Representative for Iran showing parts of some weapons claimed thatIranian arms are being used by Taliban.

Meanwhile, Iranian diplomatic mission in Afghanistan in a statementdescribed the US act as aiming to promote Iranophobia in Afghanistan. – IRNA
