Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken swift action to alleviatethe financial burden on Umrah travelers by reducing fares by up to Rs6,000.This reduction applies to journeys from major cities in Pakistan, includingLahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Peshawar, Multan, and Faisalabad, and has beenimplemented promptly.
For those departing from these specified cities, the round-trip Umrah fareto Jeddah now stands at Rs87,000, excluding tax. Meanwhile, passengers fromKarachi and Quetta can take advantage of a reduced fare of Rs79,000.
This move is a welcome relief for Pakistani pilgrims who have beengrappling with the challenges of rising inflation and a weakening rupee.
The reduction in Umrah fares is expected to not only benefit travelers butalso boost passenger numbers and revenue for PIA, making it a positivedevelopment for the airline and its customers.
However, there has been an unexpected delay in the much-anticipatedannouncement of the Hajj Policy for 2024. The press conference, originallyscheduled by the Minister of Religious Affairs, has been postponed, leavingthe public eagerly awaiting further information.
