PM Imran Khan likely to address nation today

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan will take the nation into confidenceover the masked agreement that the government and outlawedTehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have recently reached, local media saidTuesday.

Reports in media quoting sources said Khan will also address the currenteconomic, security, and political situation in Pakistan especiallyinflation.

Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry Wednesday shared a tweet saying PMwill announce the biggest relief package of the country’s history. Thispackage will prove to be a milestone in reducing the hardships of thepeople and making their lives easier, he said.

On Tuesday, the minister speaking on the issue of the banned right-wingparty said details of the agreement had not been presented in the federalcabinet as yet. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi can comment on thismatter, he added.

On Sunday, the incumbent authorities announced that an accord had beenreached with the outlawed outfit after violent clashes left at least sevencops dead and scores injured on both sides.

Chaudhry also mentioned that the premier would announce a package for themasses in the address amid the prevailing economic situation. A dayearlier, he had said Khan would announce a Mega Relief Package soon tofacilitate masses.

Meanwhile, Khan assured the cabinet that his government would implement theagreement with the banned outfit and would release the detained chief SaadRizvi and end the proscribed status of his party.

The recent development comes after authorities started implementing theagreement signed with TLP. Some reports claimed that hundreds of supportersof the banned group had been released across Punjab in line with theagreement.

In the key meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi was also given an important taskon the matter of the banned TLP and its chief. This was also decided in themeeting that Qureshi would be the focal person on the matter of TLP and itsagreement with the government.

Furthermore, PM also directed all the ministers to consult Shah MehmoodQureshi on any issue related to the banned outfit.
