The Ministry of Law has granted approval for the trial of former PrimeMinister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the cipher case, which is currentlybeing held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
On Tuesday, the ministry issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) allowingthe trial to proceed within the confines of the jail. In its officialnotification, the ministry specified that it does not object to the trialof Imran Khan Niazi, the accused, who is currently detained under theOfficial Secrets Act, taking place in the jail.
Earlier in the day, the Special Judge of the Official Secrets Act Courtsent a letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice, seeking their opinion onwhether the upcoming hearing for the cipher case should be conducted atAdiala Jail or at the judicial complex.
In the letter, Special Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain inquired aboutpotential security concerns related to bringing the PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman to the court. The letter acknowledged ImranKhan’s importance as a public figure and the leader of a political party,emphasizing that the court must consider his security.
If there are no security issues, the case will be heard in the judicialcomplex, as stated in the letter.
