Pakistan Railways to be revamped with help of ADB: Report

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Railways showed interest in replacing its old fleet oflocomotives and procurement of passenger and freight wagons in next 10years with the help of Asian Development Bank.

It was discussed during a meeting between high ups of Railways anddelegation of ADB delegation, that visited Ministry of Railways which washeaded by Ko Sakamovo, Transport Specialist.

ADB showed interest in up gradation of Pakistan Railways(PR). It isproviding technical assistance to PR through Pakistan Railways StrategicPlan (PRSP).On the other hand Pakistan PR also showed interest in upgradingML 2,ML 3,branch lines(Shangla and Shorkot section) and connectivity ofGawader to Besima through railway line.

The meeting was attended by Javed Anwar, Chairman, Ministry of Railways,Maryam Gillani,DG Operations, Munawar Ali Shah, DG Technical and DGPlanning M. Yusuf.
