Caretaker PM Anwaar Kakar speaks on the issue of electricity bills

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has affirmed that thegovernment’s finance and power teams are tirelessly working to find asustainable solution to the electricity bill issue. In an exclusiveinterview with a private TV channel on Sunday night, he shared that plansfor effectively implementing energy conservation measures will soon beunveiled.

The Prime Minister extended an appeal to the entire nation, including thebusiness community and Ulema, urging them to collaborate with thegovernment in executing this plan. He emphasized the importance of avoidingextreme social and economic attitudes for the betterment of society.

Furthermore, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar highlighted that unjustifiable contractswith Independent Power Producers (IPPs), subpar transmission lines, andinstances of electricity theft have exacerbated the burdens faced by themiddle class. As a member of the middle class himself, he fully empathizeswith the struggles of the people, and concerted efforts are underway toaddress the multifaceted challenges posed by electricity bills.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar also conveyed ongoing efforts to enhance the economicand social safety nets of the country, with particular benefits expectedfor the middle and underprivileged classes. Importantly, he categoricallyrefuted any intention to prolong his tenure as caretaker prime minister,emphasizing his commitment to upholding the law of the land.

In recognition of the vital role of an independent judiciary within thestate, he assured that his administration would wholeheartedly adhere todecisions made by the higher judiciary concerning election conduct andwould provide full assistance to the Election Commission in this regard.
