ISLAMABAD – Pakistan warns Indian action on eastern borders can disruptpeace efforts on western borders.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has linked the situation atLine of Control (LoC) with ongoing Afghan peace process saying action bythe Indian army is a “distraction”.
Indian and Pakistani Armies have traded heavy fire along the LoC in thelast few days. The Centre has also asked tourists and Amarnath Yatris toleave Kashmir in light of a fresh terror threat in the Valley.
Speaking to a Pakistani media channel, he said, “On one hand the Afghanpeace process is going through a critical stage. US Special RepresentativeZalmay Khalilzad has reached Doha after a successful visit to Islamabad. Hehas an important meeting in Doha.
The action by the Indian army is a distraction. These spoilers can impactpeace.”
The last time such a statement was made after the Pulwama attack, Kabulsummoned Pakistani envoy to Afghanistan to mark its protest.
