Pakistan FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi makes an urge to the United States

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi makes an urge tothe United States.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday urged the United States touse its influence to persuade India to come to the table for a peacefulresolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Responding to US President Donald Trump’s reiteration of offer to mediatebetween Pakistan and India on the decades-long Kashmir conflict, Qureshisaid India was avoiding the talks and did not appear willing to negotiateon the matter.

“India is involved in a bloodbath [in occupied Kashmir]. India insists itis a bilateral matter, but it is not even willing to come to the table fortalks,” the foreign minister told Geo News.

Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar earliertoday rejectedTrump’s reiterated offer to mediatelinkthe two neighbours on Kashmir, saying any discussion on the disputed regionwould take place bilaterally and only with Pakistan.
