New wave of terror attacks may engulf Europe by surprise, reveals UN Report

ISLAMABAD – According to a UN report published in July, experts believethat there will be a new wave of attacks spread across Europe before theend of the year.

According to the report, as many as 30,000 people had left their countriesto join forces with extremists, many of whom have either returned to theirhomelands, died or have been disowned by their countries and have relocatedelsewhere.

Many of the people who are willing to return back to their countries arefacing difficulties as they are now seen as security threats, also attemptsto deradicalise these people have been futile.

“Deradicalisation programmes have not proven to be fully effective …. Themost combat-hardened fighters serving longer sentences are not yetapproaching release from prison. They remain dangerous and continue to posea challenge both inside and outside the penal system,” the report states.

The report claims that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have upto $300 million to invest in their propaganda. Hamza bin Laden wasallegedly being groomed to become the new leader of the terrorist factionbut has died within the last two years according to officials in US.Al-Qaeda leader continues Ayman al-Zawahiri to grow ill however the factionremains resilient according to the report.

A major chunk of the report is focused on the recent increase in terrorismin Africa. West Africa, East Africa, North Africa and Central Africa haveall been affected severely as they continue to experience an increase indangerous militants joining extremist groups all across Africa.
