Rawalpindi: Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Sir Syed Express onWednesday, the Prime Minister said that if the Sharif family and theZardari family bring back even half of their looted wealth, the dollar willdepreciate and the rupee will appreciate in value.Blaming corruption for the debts of all government departments, such asPakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Railways, the Prime Minister saidthat countries become poor because of corruption.Talking about the main opposition parties, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawazand the Pakistan people’s Party, Imran Khan said that in the past ten yearseven the children and grandchildren of both the Zardari and the Shariffamily became billionaires, while the nation was burdened with loans.“In a democracy, public office holders and leaders are answerable for theiractions,” the Prime Minister said, adding that he will hold the culpritsresponsible for pushing the country into tough times.Addressing the leader of the opposition, Shehbaz Sharif, Imran Khan saidthat if your family and Zardari family bring back half the money they havetaken abroad, the rupee will appreciate in value.
The premier also congratulated the Railways Minister, Sheikh Rasheed, andcommended his efforts for making the transport system better. He also saidthat Sheikh Rasheed had reduced the debt of the Railways from Rs. 36billion to Rs. 32 billion in ten months, despite increasing fuel prices anddevaluation of Pakistan Rupee.
