KARACHI – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday has arrestedMuttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Javed Hanif for allegedly making illegalappointments.
Javed Hanif, former chief of Karachi Port Trust (KPT), was detained fromhis residence in South Karachi. The team said that Hanif was involved inillegal 340 appointments along with Babar Ghauri that resulted in a loss ofRs3 billion to the national exchequer.
The appointments were carried out in violation of KPT law, rules andregulations while they were also made without advertisement of vacanciesand any other criteria.
He also hired people involved in criminal practices including dacoity,murder and terrorism, the investigation officer told.
