One of the most powerful cyclone of Indian history plays havoc across states

NEW DELHI – One of the most powerful cyclone in Indian history in recentdecades which hit Odisha coast on Friday morning with gusty winds andheavy rainfall, has wreaked havoc across the state causing major damage toBhubaneswar airport, Kalinga stadium and major educational institutions.

Strong winds at the speed of 92 kmph, gusting to 130 kmph, hitBhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik Airport, blowing off the rooftops, which lead tomassive destruction.

In view of the cyclone, all flights to and from Bhubaneswar have beencancelled for 24 hours starting midnight of May 3, Directorate General ofCivil Aviation (DGCA) said on Thursday. Also, flights from Netaji SubhasChandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata were cancelled till Saturday.

Meanwhile, in another part of the town, a college bus overturned due to thestrong winds.

Cyclone Fani is very likely to continue to move north-northeastwards andweaken further into a severe cyclonic storm during the next nine hours.
