ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz hasresponded over the bail petition decision of Nawaz Sharif.
She said on Friday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was notsentenced for committing any crime.
Taking to Twitter hours after the Supreme Court rejected the ailingex-premier’s plea of permanent bail on medical grounds, Maryam said: “NawazSharif is not facing ‘punishment’ for committing any crime, rather he waspunished for becoming people’s voice.”
The PML-N supremo has “rendered immense sacrifices” which Maryam said willbear the “sweetest fruit”. “The fruit of Nawaz’s sacrifices will be for thecoming generations of the country.”
Addressing party supporters in the same tweet, she said Nawaz wasstruggling for them and he will not let them down.

The three-time prime minister was sentenced to a seven-year prison termafter an accountability court convicted him in Al-Azizia reference. He hadbeen imprisoned at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore since December 24, 2018.
