ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for utilization ofthousands of acres of unused public lands to curtail the country’s fiscaldeficit and boost the development process.
Chairing a meeting to review progress on privatization process ofgovernment properties and assets in Islamabad, he said action would betaken against the government officials involved in concealment ofinformation about public assets.
The Prime Minister said the non-use of non-profit and unutilized publicproperties in a country which has to pay around seven billion rupees perday in debt-servicing alone, is not understandable.
He also directed the authorities concerned for early finalization of therules and regulations regarding construction of multi-storey buildings inthe country.
Secretary Privatization briefed the meeting about the progress onprivatization of various government assets, including Haveli Bahadur Shahand Balloki Power Plants, SME Bank, Jinnah Convention Center, governmentstake in Mari Petroleum and Lakhra Coalmine.
