Former Indian Cricket Coach arrested over IPL Betting Racket

*ISLAMABAD – A former coach of Indian women cricket team, Tushar Arothe,was arrested by the authorities in connection with an Indian Premier League(IPL) betting racket that was busted at Arothe’s cafe.*

“We had received a tip-off about the betting activities at the Cafe StockExchange in Alkapuri where a big screen was placed to relay IPL matches. Wekept a watch there and conducted a raid on Monday night,” said JaydeepsinhJadeja, DCP (crime) quoted *Times of India*.

When the police raided the place, an IPL match was being telecasted live onthe big screen in the café, as per the police, Arothe was taking bets fromyoungsters on IPL matches and Android application ‘CrickLive’ was used toplace the wagers.

Arothe, an ex Ranjhi trophy player, was a left-handed batsman and aright-arm off-break bowler, Arothe played 114 First Class matches scoring6,105 runs with 13 hundreds and 31 half-centuries.

Arothe took over the coaching if Indian women’s national team in 2017,during his tenure, the women’s team made it to the finals of the ICCWomen’s World Cup in 2017, which India lost by nine runs to eventualchampions England.
